Great news! The Bargain Center store has been back up and running for 3 weeks+ and the Mission is accepting new residents. Those are both great things to share with y'all.
With COVID 19 still lingering, we took great strides to reopen the Bargain Center and start accepting new residents into our program. However, we have still seen a downturn in the number of customers at the store. We'd love for you to share our Facebook and website page with everyone you know. All, meaning 100% of the proceeds from our store go to support the Mission. We have the capacity to hold 18 men in our program. We'd love to have each and every bed filled. The store is a major part of our revenue funding. With that said, we'd love to have your donations. You can drop them off or we can come and pick them up. Please refer to our most-needed items on the website to see not only what we do accept, but also what we don't. After 23 years of service, our resident manager, Mr. Willie, has retired and moved into his own new home!! Such exciting news and it is great to see how he is enjoying his new life and the path that is ahead for him. I made the decision once Mr. Willie retired to hire Mr. Wade Fox. Wade is VERY familiar with our program, the requirements and responsibilities included therein. The COVID virus set us back financially and we are trying to recover. As a nonprofit 501 (c) 3 there are many funding sources that are off-limits to us. As such, please keep us in mind for donations of clothing, furniture, housewares, tools and other items. As well, we accept monetary donations that again, all proceeds go towards the funding and running of our Mission. Since 1974 we've been helping those men with hurts, habits & hangups that are homeless. We have a very long history here in Wilmington and fully expect to keep moving in that direction for another 45+ years. Some great news is that we currently have 5 men in our men's recovery program that have obtained employment. Some with the help of this Mission and others who obtained their positions on their own. We are so excited to see these men take the next step towards independence and self-sufficiency. To our donors, volunteers and customers, we thank you all for everything you have done and continue to do. Along with them we'd like to say thank you to our partners such as the Harrelson Center, New Hanover Disaster Coalition, ONE Christian Network and many others who have stood beside us and helped us for so very long. We could NOT make it without all of you. In closing, please consider us for your donation of time, talents and treasures. If you'd like to donate items, stop by or we can come and get them. If you'd like to volunteer, please let us know. And for those who wish to remain anonymous and donate to us financially, we thank you as well!! God Bless you all, stay safe and be well.
