Each week, we will be providing updates on the Mission and Bargain Center of the Rescue Mission of Cape Fear. COVID has changed and altered the way that we all do things now, the Mission included. Weekly we will provide updates about the changes and happenings from the Mission and Store.
We closed the Bargain Center at 5 pm on March 21st and didn't reopen for business until Saturday May 9th. As such, we lost a significant amount of revenue and lost many, many donations. Most of the donations we accept are for resale in our store, however, a fair amount go to the men in our residential recovery program such as clothes, toiletries, daily essentials, etc. When we closed due to the virus, we also experienced a great loss in donations of food that go to feed the men in our program. As such, our food pantry has been greatly depleted. At this point, we are in need of a few things. First and foremost, we are seeking food donations for the men in our program. These donations could include ground beef, poultry, pork, large cans of vegetables and fruits, paper products such as toilet paper and paper towels along with disposable plates, napkins, eating utensils, etc. Other items would be rices, flour, sugar and other shelf-stable items that are needed on a daily basis. As well, we are in need of financial donations of any amount. Each and every penny counts. With the loss of revenue for 8 weeks, we suffered a setback and are trying to recover as best as we can. Your financial donations can go to buying the much-needed items for the Mission as well as help us with our daily operating expenses such as power, water, transportation costs and the like. Please contact us if you'd like more information on how to make a donation. We'd love to partner with you as individuals, companies and other local community groups to help us keep striving to work on our "mission" at the Mission. God Bless you all and thank you for your continued support of the Rescue Mission of Cape Fear!!
